Do Academy Players Get Paid? Youth Wages, Ages, And Contracts

Many parents and young players ask, “Do academy players actually get paid?”

In England, whether academy players get paid depends on their age, status and contract. Players from U12 to U15 are considered youth amateurs, so they do not receive wages. However, clubs pay for expenses and offer coaching, education support, facilities and physiotherapy. From U16 , some players move to scholarship agreements, which may include allowances or apprentice wages if the player is legally employed.
